WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.70: what's new?
WhatsApp has just submitted a new update through the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the version up to 22.23.0.70. The version marked within WhatsApp Settings is 2.22.23.70 and the TestFlight build is 22.23.0 (413386631).
What's new in this update? WhatsApp is releasing profile photos of group participants within group chats, to some lucky beta testers!

PROFILE PHOTOS - GROUP CHAT
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.18.0.72 update, we announced that WhatsApp was working on bringing profile photos of group participants next to their chat bubbles. The feature was under development on that update and we posted similar information for WhatsApp Desktop beta yesterday. Finally, WhatsApp is releasing this feature to some beta testers that install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app!
As you can see in this screenshot, the best way to discover if the feature is enabled for your account is to open a group. This is a nice UI addition that helps group members recognize other participants that have the same name. In addition, the default empty profile photo will show up in case the group member doesn't have a profile picture or it is hidden due to their privacy settings. The default empty profile photo is always tinted by using the same color as the contact name.
The ability to view profile photos of group participants next to chat bubbles is available to some beta testers that install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app and it is rolling out to more beta testers over the coming weeks.
