WhatsApp is working on a premium feature to choose new ringtones
In the post about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.9.9 update, we announced a feature that allows users to pin up to 20 chats. With this feature, users will be able to pin a higher number of conversations at the top of the screen. Pinning more chats will let users have more control over their chat list, making it easier to keep important conversations readily accessible. This option is designed for users who manage multiple chats every day.
This functionality will be part of the upcoming premium plan through a monthly subscription. The plan is still under development, and its features are currently being finalized before the official release. Now, WhatsApp is considering additional features to expand the package and further enhance user personalization. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.9.12 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a premium feature that offers a collection of new ringtones.

As you can see from the attached image, WhatsApp is developing a feature that lets users choose a new ringtone, scheduled for release in a future update. With the current version, users can already choose a different ringtone when they receive a call. Users can just open the chat info screen and select the option to review their notification settings. Here, users can tap the ringtone option that lets them choose one of the ringtone offered by the operating system.
Subscribing to the premium plan will give users access to a separate section in the ringtone interface. Users will still be able to select a ringtone provided by the operating system. However, WhatsApp will also offer a dedicated set of new ringtones to expand the default collection. Currently, the premium plan is expected to include 10 ringtones, though this number may change before the official release.
The new ringtone section will let users play a preview of the ringtone directly within WhatsApp. So users won't need to open the ringtone browser to preview the sound. Playing the preview immediately right within WhatsApp will make it easier and faster to compare options before selecting one. As a result, this functionality will ensure users can choose the sound that best meets their preferences.
This section also includes new ringtones from the premium plan. At the moment, WhatsApp plans to offer these ringtones: Arpeggio, Breaking, Chirp, Departure, Dollop, Journey, Scavenger, Seedling, Storytime, and Unfold. Each ringtone has its own distinctive style, so users will be able to personalize their calling notifications with sounds that reflect different moods. New ringtones available exclusively for WhatsApp could help users distinguish their call notifications from those of other apps more easily. It is important to mention that these ringtones cannot be used for message notifications, as they are exclusively designed for calls within the app.
Note that the upcoming premium plan is still under development. This means that the selection of ringtones we just listed may be adjusted before the official launch. Some premium features we announced in the past few week could also be refined as WhatsApp finalizes the plan. Additionally, WhatsApp has revealed that the name of the premium plan will be WhatsApp Plus. Subscribers to WhatsApp Plus can expect exclusive features, including the new set of ringtones and enhanced personalization options.
The premium feature that offers a collection of new ringtones is currently under development, and it is planned for release in a future update. At the moment, WhatsApp is refining how the user can select new ringtones after subscribing to the premium plan. Once testing is complete, WhatsApp Plus will be gradually introduced to users, making it easier to improve the personalization of call notifications.
