WhatsApp to expand Meta AI with new subscription plans on Android

In the post about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.3.10 update, we announced a feature that enables reasoning capabilities for Meta AI. With this new functionality, users will be able to choose how they want to interact with Meta AI. WhatsApp plans to introduce a tool that lets users choose between two different options: fast and thinking. Depending on their needs and the prompt they enter, users will be able to switch between these two modes at any time.

Note that this feature is still under development. WhatsApp is refining how users can access and manage these interaction modes within the conversation with Meta AI. In the meantime, WhatsApp is developing other tools that will let users communicate with Meta AI more efficiently. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.10.4 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on higher-tier subscription plans for Meta AI.

As you can see from the attached image, WhatsApp is exploring a feature that will allow users to subscribe to higher plans for Meta AI in the future. Currently, users can interact with Meta AI on WhatsApp at no cost. The assistant is available directly within the app, and it allows users to start conversations and receive responses in real-time. It is possible to ask questions or get help through a simple chat interface. Meta AI is designed to provide quick and helpful replies on many different topics. This experience is currently accessible to all users without requiring any subscription.

Today, WhatsApp is reportedly testing new subscription plans to get more out of Meta AI. These plans are expected to offer higher limits for specific interactions, though the exact details have not been revealed yet. These plans may support advanced AI capabilities, making it possible for users to get more from Meta AI. As a result, new subscription plans will allow Meta to provide new ways for users to interact with the chatbot.

These new tiers may allow faster responses, access to new models, or additional customization options in the future. For example, subscription plans for ChatGPT offer features like priority access during peak times, longer context windows, and more advanced AI capabilities. Similarly, higher-tier plans for Meta AI are expected to offer similar benefits. While exact details are not yet known, the structure of subscription plans from other AIs offers a hint at what we might expect from Meta AI.

It is important to note that these higher-tier plans will be entirely optional. Meta AI will continue to be accessible to all users without any subscription, just like ChatGPT and Gemini. So it will still be possible to chat with Meta AI at no cost. Only users who want higher limits or access to specific advanced features may consider subscribing to one of the future plans offered by Meta AI. This means that the free experience will stay available to everyone. However, subscriptions will offer extra limits for those who need them.

Higher-tier subscription plans for Meta AI are currently under development, and they are planned for release in a future update. At the moment, WhatsApp is refining how the user can subscribe to new plans. Once testing is complete, this feature will be gradually introduced to users, making it easier to get more out of Meta AI.
