WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.5.19: what's new?

Unlike WhatsApp Business accounts, personal users are not required to authenticate ownership of the linked Instagram handle, though this may change in future updates. Although the feature is still in development, it seems that WhatsApp is actively refining it before its official release to beta testers to provide them with the best privacy experience from the outset. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.5.19 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to manage privacy settings for profile links!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that will allow users to configure the visibility of their profile links directly from the privacy settings, scheduled for release in a future update. This means that users will have greater control over who can see the social media links added to their WhatsApp profile, offering four options to manage their visibility. These options include the standard privacy settings available on WhatsApp, such as "Everyone", "My contacts", "My contacts except", and "Nobody". Each of these settings caters to different privacy preferences and user needs, making the experience with profile links customizable.

When the option to share profile links with everyone is selected, they will be visible to all WhatsApp users, including people who are not saved as contacts. This setting will be particularly useful for users who already have a public profile on Instagram and want to increase their visibility, making it easier for others to discover their social media accounts. Users will also have the option to limit the visibility of their profile links to just their contacts, making it ideal for those who want to maintain a higher level of privacy. This will be a good choice for users who prefer a more private experience and want to share their social media profiles exclusively with people they know personally.

For those who want to exclude specific contacts, the "My contact except" setting will allow users to hide their profile links from certain contacts while still sharing them with the rest of their address book. It's an excellent option for users who are comfortable sharing their Instagram account with most people in their contact list but prefer to restrict access for particular people. Users will also be able to choose not to share their profile links with anyone. This can be considered as a solution for users who want to keep their profile links saved for future use without removing them completely, making it easier to restore visibility without re-entering the details.

It is important to note that this feature will be completely optional when it is released. This means users will not be required to add profile links if they don't want to. For those who choose to add them, the privacy settings will provide full control over who can see the links in the future. Users will be able to manage their profile link visibility according to their preferences, ensuring they can maintain their desired level of privacy at any time.
