However, some users preferred the previous vertical list layout, which is now finally available by applying the filter.

For users who want to focus on channels, they can apply the dedicated filter to display only the channels they follow, as well as suggested ones. This filter excludes status updates, which might be distracting for some users as they may prefer a streamlined view that highlights only content from the channels they're interested in. By introducing this filtering feature, WhatsApp is offering a more personalized way to interact with the Updates tab, catering to different user preferences.

The new filtering system aims to improve content discoverability and accessibility, allowing users to quickly find the type of updates that interest them the most. Some users might appreciate the ability to declutter their Updates tab, focusing only on status updates or channels, depending on their needs. This feature also brings a more structured browsing experience, reducing the need for excessive scrolling to locate specific content.
