In the past few weeks, we've always recognized the potential to support more services, and users will soon see the first of these added. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.26.12 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows users to add Facebook profile links!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is testing the implementation of a feature to let users add their Facebook profile links directly to their chat info screen, scheduled for release in a future update. Once this feature is rolled out, users will have the option to display a Facebook icon alongside their profile link directly on WhatsApp. This means that, in addition to linking their Instagram accounts, users can choose to highlight their Facebook profiles for contacts who view their WhatsApp profile.

Just like Instagram, adding a Facebook profile link is entirely optional. Users who prefer not to share their Facebook account can simply avoid adding it without affecting their WhatsApp experience. This feature is intended for those who want to make their social media presence more visible to the people they communicate with on WhatsApp, within the bounds of their chosen privacy settings. By linking a Facebook account, users can provide a verified connection between their WhatsApp profile and their Facebook account, offering greater transparency to their contacts and helping them easily identify authentic profiles.

Verification is managed through the Accounts Center, which confirms that the Facebook account actually belongs to the user. When verified, a Facebook icon will appear next to the profile link, indicating authenticity and preventing impersonation. However, verification is completely optional even for Facebook profile links. Users can choose to leave their Facebook profile link unverified if they prefer, which will display a generic link icon and the full URL, just like with unverified Instagram links. Additionally, users are not required to add their WhatsApp account to the Accounts Center in order to use this feature. This ensures that everyone retains full control over their account connections and verification preferences.
