It appears that WhatsApp continues to focus on enhancing status updates, especially regarding how they are viewed within the app. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.23.14 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to display who recently viewed a status update and its privacy settings!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that will allow users to see additional information for each status update, scheduled for release in the future. This feature is designed to provide a quick preview of some contacts who have viewed the status, without requiring the user to open the full viewer list. Similar to Instagram, recent viewers will be shown as small profile icons at the bottom of the screen, along with the number of contacts who have viewed the status update. This approach will give users immediate insight into who has seen their update at a glance, providing a clearer sense of engagement with their content.

With this feature, users will be able to see the recent activity on their updates more efficiently, quickly identifying which contacts have recently viewed their status. The feature aims to make status updates more interactive by visually highlighting viewer activity. It also allows users to monitor engagement without the need to scroll through the list of viewers. The interface is expected to remain clean and simple, with the icons clearly indicating viewers in a compact layout.

In addition to showing viewers directly from the main status interface, WhatsApp is planning to display the privacy setting used for each specific update. Since users can select different audiences for each update, they might often forget which contacts were included in a particular status, especially if they frequently change privacy settings. This feature will help users quickly recall the chosen audience for every status update, making it easier to manage who can see their content. By showing the privacy setting directly alongside each update, users will gain a clear overview of their sharing choices, as well as quick confirmation of who can see each status.

This enhancement ensures that status updates remain controlled and organized, reducing confusion when multiple updates are shared with different groups or contacts. This feature is also designed to make privacy management more transparent, helping users maintain confidence in how their updates are shared. By providing a quick visual reference, users will be able to immediately see the intended audience for each update. Over time, this should make it easier to manage status updates consistently and avoid accidental oversharing.
