QUESTIONS FOR STATUS UPDATES

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.21.4 update, we announced that a feature that allows admins to share questions in their channels was under development. This feature will introduce a new type of interactive post designed to increase engagement by letting channel admins ask open‑ended questions directly to their followers. Unlike polls, which limit responses to predefined options, questions will invite followers to write their own answers, giving admins richer and more detailed feedback. Although this feature is still in development, WhatsApp appears to be working on a similar tool to boost engagement with status updates. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.21.8 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows users to share questions through their status!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that will let users add a question box directly into their status updates, scheduled for release in the future. This question box will require users to type a question of their choice, which can then be answered by their contacts or by a selected audience. However, the user will be limited to including only one question per status update. This means that if users want to ask multiple questions, they will need to post several status updates one after another.

Once the status containing the question box is shared, viewers will have the opportunity to submit their responses directly within the status interface. All answers provided by contacts will be collected and displayed in a dedicated section accessible only to the original poster, who will be able to see not only the content of each response but also which contacts submitted them. This setup offers users a convenient way to review and manage feedback without overwhelming their conversations.

Users will be able to selectively share any of the responses they receive directly back to their own status updates, giving them the ability to highlight particularly interesting, insightful, or important replies. It's important to note that when a response is shared in this way, the privacy of the original respondent is fully respected. The shared status will display only the text of the answer itself, without any indication of who submitted it. This makes sure that people feel safe sharing their answers, as their name won't be shown even if their response is shared with others.

This new question box feature on WhatsApp closely resembles the question sticker already popular on Instagram Stories. Just like Instagram's sticker, it lets users ask open-ended questions that their followers can respond to directly within the story or status. Both features encourage more interaction by making it easier for followers to share their thoughts without leaving the main feed. By introducing this similar tool, WhatsApp is bringing a familiar and engaging experience to its own platform, helping users connect more deeply with their contacts.

A feature that allows users to share questions through their status is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
