SEARCH FOR DRAFT MESSAGES

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.17.27 update, we announced that a feature to manage message notifications for chat lists was under development. This feature will allow users to mute all chats within a specific list in one step, providing a more streamlined and efficient way to control notifications. By accessing a new menu through a long-press gesture on a chat list, or through the list settings, users will be able to silence multiple conversations at once, reducing the need for repetitive actions. It appears that WhatsApp is focusing on enhancing chat lists by adding new preset filters, aiming to offer more tools that help users manage their conversations and make their experience more convenient. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.18.17 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to search for draft messages through a preset chat list!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that will allow users to locate all chats with draft messages, scheduled for release in a future update. A draft message refers to any text that has been typed in a conversation but has not yet been sent. It is marked with a green color within the chats list to make it easier for users to quickly notice it. For example, it can occur when users start composing a message but decide to send it later.

Currently, users must scroll through their entire chat list to find conversations that contain draft messages, which can be time-consuming and inefficient, especially for those who engage with a large number of chats. With this upcoming feature, WhatsApp aims to streamline the process by introducing a specific filter that will automatically show all chats with unsent drafts in the future. This will be particularly convenient for users who often compose messages across multiple conversations and leave them unfinished.

By simply selecting the new "Drafts" filter, users will be able to instantly bring up a dedicated list of all conversations that contain unsent messages, allowing them to quickly identify any pending chats that may require a follow-up or response. This convenient tool will help ensure that no important message is accidentally forgotten or overlooked due to distractions or busy schedules. In addition to improving message management, the feature is designed as a practical reminder for users to revisit chats where they had begun typing a message but didn't have the chance to send it, whether due to an interruption or a deliberate decision to respond later.

It's important to note that this new filter will be a preset option. This means that users won't need to manually set it up or configure anything once the feature becomes available, as it will appear automatically when draft messages exist. In addition, WhatsApp will provide flexibility with managing this feature since users can remove the draft filter at any time if they do not find this list useful. In case their needs or habits change later, they will still have the option to re-enable the filter and make use of it as needed.

A feature to search for draft messages through a preset chat list is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
