AVATAR STICKERS

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.6.8 update, we announced that a privacy feature to decide who can use avatars in their stickers was under development. This update was designed to give users more control over how their avatars are used within the app, specifically by enabling them to choose who can feature their avatar in custom stickers. It appears that WhatsApp is now testing this feature with the public, as some beta testers have reported seeing new privacy settings regarding avatars. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.11.3 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that lets users send avatar sticker messages in their chats!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, some beta testers can explore new privacy settings dedicated to avatar stickers. These settings allow users to control who can include their avatar in stickers, with options such as "My Contacts", "Selected Contacts", and "Nobody". When privacy settings are configured to allow it, a new category of avatar stickers called "Together" becomes available right within the sticker keyboard. This category is designed to display stickers that feature both your avatar and the avatar of your contact.

If both you and your contact have mutually allowed each other through the new privacy settings, WhatsApp will automatically generate at least seven unique "Together" stickers. These stickers are created based on each user's avatar and will vary depending on the chat, since every avatar has personalized features that reflect the individual user. This means that "Together" stickers will look different in each chat, depending on the combination of avatars involved. However, these stickers will only appear if both users have properly configured their avatar privacy settings to include each other. If either user has restricted the setting, the "Together" category will not be shown in the chat. This ensures a high level of privacy and control, allowing users to decide exactly who can create and view these personalized avatar combinations.

This feature represents a new way to personalize communication on WhatsApp. By enabling users to create stickers that include both their avatar and a contact's avatar, conversations can feel more expressive and engaging. It adds a layer of emotional connection by visually representing the users involved in the chat. The customization options also help reflect personal style and identity in digital conversations. At the same time, the granular privacy controls ensure that these stickers are only shared when both parties are comfortable with it. This thoughtful design puts user privacy first while enhancing the personalization of the chat experience. If privacy settings are not aligned between two users, the app respects those boundaries and disables access to the "Together" stickers.

A feature that lets users send avatar sticker messages in their chats is available to some beta testers who install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks.
