CHAT BROADCAST LIMITS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.6 update, we announced that a feature to limit the number of broadcast messages users can send is under development. This restriction would help regulate mass messaging by setting a monthly cap on the number of broadcasts users can send. While the exact limit is yet to be officially disclosed by WhatsApp, users will receive notifications as they approach their quota, allowing them to plan their messaging accordingly. Although the feature is still in development, it seems that WhatsApp is now refining it to ensure transparency regarding the number of broadcast messages sent. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.10.8 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a notification system for chat broadcast message limits!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that will allow users to get information regarding the number of broadcast messages sent within a session, scheduled for release in a future update. A session lasts for 30 days, beginning when a user sends their first broadcast message and automatically resetting at the end of the period. During each session, users will be allowed to send a fixed number of broadcast messages. To help users track their usage, WhatsApp will integrate a notification system that displays the number of messages sent within the current session.
This notification system will be accessible from both the app settings and within broadcast chats. In the settings page, users will be able to check their remaining broadcast quota, while in broadcast chats, WhatsApp will introduce a pinned message at the top of conversations, providing real-time updates on the number of messages sent in the month. This ensures that users remain informed and can adjust their messaging strategy accordingly, as they will have a clear overview of their remaining broadcast quota and can plan their messages to stay within the allowed limit.
By introducing this notification system, WhatsApp aims to help users manage their broadcast messages more effectively and stay within the allowed limit. This could prevent unexpected restrictions and encourage users to make more mindful use of the feature, reducing the risk of excessive broadcast messaging and minimizing spam. As a result, users might start exploring alternative ways to communicate with a larger audience, such as status updates or WhatsApp Channels. Since WhatsApp Channels and status updates are designed for mass communication, they may provide a more sustainable solution for those who frequently reach the broadcast message limit. Channels, in particular, allow for public updates without the constraints of traditional broadcast lists, making them an attractive alternative for businesses and community admins.
A notification system for chat broadcast message limits is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
