CHAT EVENTS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.20.34 update, we announced that a feature to schedule events in community announcement groups was available to some beta testers. This feature, which was previously limited to group chats, has now been expanded to community announcement groups, allowing for greater visibility and organization. By extending this capability, WhatsApp ensures that event details are shared in a more centralized and structured manner, enhancing communication for community admins and members alike. It seems that WhatsApp continues to focus on improving the events feature by also extending it to regular chats, ensuring a more seamless experience for all users. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.18 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to create events in individual chats!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a new feature that allows users to create events in their individual chats, scheduled for release in a future update. Events created in individual chats will mirror those created in group chats, maintaining consistency across the platform. Users will need to provide a name for the event, which is mandatory, along with an optional description to offer additional context. The date on which the event will take place is required, ensuring that all participants are clear about the schedule. In addition, users will still have the option to specify an end time for the event, making it easier to define the duration.
An optional location can also be attached to the event, enabling participants to know exactly where the meeting or activity will occur. Alternatively, users can link the event to start an audio or video call when it begins, making it especially convenient for virtual meetings or catch-ups. The procedure for creating and sharing an event will remain the same across individual and group chats, providing a familiar and intuitive experience for users. Once an event is created in an individual chat, it will be automatically shared in that conversation, and the recipient will be notified. The recipient can then choose to accept or decline the event invitation, making it easier for users to confirm their participation.
For example, an event that might be particularly suitable for an individual chat is scheduling a private tutoring session. A student and a tutor could create an event specifying the date, time, and location for the session, or even link it to a video call if the session will be held online. The tutor can add a brief description, such as "Preparation for the upcoming test", to provide more clarity. As a result, this feature will enhance coordination between two people, eliminating the need for back-and-forth messaging to confirm details. It will also ensure that all relevant information is consolidated in one place, making it easily accessible for both users and enhancing one-on-one interactions.
A feature to create events in individual chats is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
