VIDEO MESSAGE FORWARDING
In the article about the WhatsApp for iOS 24.6.77 update, we announced that WhatsApp was widely rolling out a feature to record and send video messages in their conversations. Through this feature, users can now share instant video notes of up to 60 seconds in duration by long-pressing the camera button next to the text fields in chat. These video messages are usually private, preventing saving, sharing, or forwarding after sending, although it's still possible to screen-recording them. However, it appears that WhatsApp aims to help people easily share their video messages in other conversations, without the need of recording a new video note. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.30 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a feature to forward outgoing video messages!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, some beta testers can currently experiment with a new feature to easily forward video messages. In the previous updates, it was not possible to forward video messages as this feature was unavailable, making the process more complicated for users who wanted to share their video messages across different conversations. Without the ability to forward video messages, users had to either manually record a new video or rely on workarounds like screen recording, which wasn't very efficient. The new forward feature finally implements this process, enhancing user experience and making communication more efficient. It is important to note that it is still not possible to forward incoming voice notes from other contacts, ensuring added privacy and the confidentiality of communication.
In our opinion, the introduction of this feature might bring significant advantages to users as they can quickly share video messages with multiple contacts without having to recreate the same message. This saves time and ensures they do not need to record the same content multiple times, and it is particularly useful for those who frequently share video messages with their friends, family, or colleagues. In addition, we believe that the new feature is expected to encourage users to share their video messages with more contacts. As users can now quickly forward the same video message across different conversations, they may feel more inclined to use this mode of communication if they see the new forward button next to the video note, enhancing interaction and connection with their contacts.
A feature to forward outgoing video messages is available to some beta testers who install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming days.
