STATUS UPDATES TRAY
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.4.23 update, we announced that WhatsApp was working on a fresh interface for the status updates tray. This revamped interface would provide users with a more modern experience for their status updates, allowing them to preview the first update without needing to open it. Although this feature is still under development, it seems that WhatsApp is now in the process of further improving this interface, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.8.6 update from the Google Play Store.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is currently experimenting with an alternative interface for the status updates tray, set for a future update of the app. When there are no status updates to display, WhatsApp intends not to showcase the redesigned status card as seen in the earlier article where we initially identified this feature. Instead, a different status cell will be presented with a distinct background, indicating the availability of a different layout and highlighting that your status updates disappear after 24 hours. Once a status update is shared or received, WhatsApp will automatically reload this section, revealing the updated interface for the tray.
The revamped interface will offer a more modern and intuitive experience for users interacting with status updates. As explained in our earlier article, WhatsApp intends to enhance the navigation experience by allowing users to preview the first status update directly from the tray without needing to open it individually. The new interface maintains the position of the status updates tray at the top of the updates tab, ensuring it remains easily accessible and visible to users as soon as they open the tab. However, with these recent adjustments, WhatsApp aims to conserve screen space on the status updates screen when no updates have been shared.
A fresh interface for the status updates tray is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we gather more information about this feature.
