CHAT FILTERS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.14.17 update, we shared some information regarding a new feature in development: chat filters. Thanks to this feature, WhatsApp aimed to provide users with enhanced control over their conversations by filtering chats based on categories. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.6.16 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to filter conversations to a limited group of beta testers!

As you can see in the attached screenshot, some beta testers may notice a new row containing chat filters at the top of their conversation list. These actions will allow them to filter the chat list to display only chats of a certain type. Specifically, WhatsApp is rolling out a dedicated filter to display only unread conversations, and another one to allow users to get a list of their group chats. It's important to note that these filters are located under the top app bar, so it might be a bit tricky to notice if this feature is available to your account without scrolling down the chats list. In addition, it appears that a contacts filter is not available with this release.
In our opinion, this feature represents a significant enhancement to the user experience as it provides users with a tool to quickly search for specific chats. In fact, chat filtering allows users to categorize their conversations based on those filters, making it easier for users to locate and access the chats they need quickly, without scrolling through a long list of conversations. In addition, the advantage of offering a feature to filter the conversations list to display only group chats provides users with a more efficient way to manage their communications. This enhancement addresses a longstanding user request, demonstrating that WhatsApp is responsive to user feedback and committed to improving the overall user experience.
The feature to filter chats is available to some beta testers that install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks.
