PINNED EVENTS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12 update, we announced a new feature in development: events for community group chats. With this enhancement, WhatsApp aims to offer community members a new tool to help them create reminders for specific occasions. The feature is still in development but thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.3.20 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to automatically pin planned events within the community info screen!
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a new feature to automatically pin upcoming events at the top of the community info screen, for a future update of the app. Whenever a community member creates a new event, it will be automatically highlighted in this section, making it easier for everyone else to stay always informed about upcoming activities and engagements within the community.
In our opinion, this feature will improve the user experience for community members as this pinned events section provides quick access to important information. Whether it's a scheduled event that includes a call or a simple reminder, the pinned events section ensures that this information is easily accessible and prominently displayed. In addition, we believe that pinning upcoming events at the top of the community info screen will be a significant time-saving feature for users. Traditionally, users might have had to search for specific event details within each community group chat. This process can be time-consuming and might result in missed information. By having this information readily accessible without the need to open each community group chat individually, users will be able to efficiently stay informed about planned events in a very convenient manner.
A pinned events section within community info is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we're going to publish a new article when we have further information regarding this feature to share with you.
