TRANSLATE MESSAGES AND UPDATES
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.15.12 update, we announced that a feature to automatically translate messages into a different language was under development. This feature will allow users to decide whether the app should automatically translate all new chat messages in the future. Through the ability to translate a selected message or enable automatic translations for all new messages, users will be able to break language barriers and communicate seamlessly with people who speak different languages. Although it is still in development, it seems WhatsApp is further refining this feature before the official release by clarifying the accuracy of these translations. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.26.9 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to translate chat messages and channel updates!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring additional refinements for the feature to automatically translate chat messages and channel updates, scheduled for release in a future update. WhatsApp has designed the translation process to occur entirely on the user's device, without sending any data to third-party services or even their own servers. This ensures that the feature still adheres to the commitment to maintaining end-to-end encryption, keeping all messages secure and private. Since these translations will work offline, users can download a language pack in advance. Once downloaded, the translations will be processed locally on the device, so they can still be elaborated even when an active Internet connection is not available.
It is important to note that through these refinements, WhatsApp has emphasized that translations generated using local language packs should be regarded as indicative rather than fully accurate. Since the translation is performed offline using pre-downloaded data, occasional errors or inaccuracies may occur. Users are encouraged to consider this trade-off, which is necessary to preserve end-to-end encryption and ensure privacy. Despite potential inaccuracies, this feature is still expected to be helpful for improving communication across different languages.
A feature to translate chat messages and channel updates is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
