To address this, WhatsApp is now shifting this action to a more intuitive location within the menu, where users can choose new contacts to call. In this section, users will find an option labeled "Call a number", which opens the dialer, allowing them to input a phone number directly.

Once a phone number is entered, WhatsApp continues to perform the same verification process as before. The app checks if the number is associated with an active WhatsApp account, providing users with immediate confirmation. If the number belongs to a verified business, WhatsApp also displays the blue verification checkmark, offering additional assurance to users. This new approach enhances the interface, removing unnecessary elements from the calls tab while retaining the full functionality of the in-app dialer. The convenience of calling unknown numbers without saving them in the address book remains intact. Users simply need to enter the phone number into the dialer, making the process efficient for quick or temporary interactions. In addition, this change improves the visual clarity of the calls tab, allowing users to focus on their call history and recent contacts without distractions. The integration of the call dialer into the menu provides a cleaner and more organized experience.
