UPDATED CALL LOG MANAGEMENT

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.21.9 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a call link feature within individual and group chats. This new feature aimed to simplify the process of creating and sharing call links by integrating a dedicated shortcut directly within the chat interface. The feature, previously limited to the Calls tab, is now accessible within the chat attachment sheet, allowing users to quickly generate call links without leaving their ongoing conversations. It appears that WhatsApp continues to enhance the calling experience with additional updates and improvements, with a focus on refining the interface and making it easier for users to manage their call logs. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.24.19 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out an updated call log management feature!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, some beta testers can explore a revamped interface for the call info screen. The new call info screen is visually similar to the chat info screen, with important elements now sharing the same layout. The profile photo of the contact is prominently displayed at the center of the screen horizontally, creating a more consistent and user-friendly design. Below the profile photo, users will find buttons for sending a message, making a voice call, and starting a video call with the contact. Previously, the button for sending a message was located in the top app bar, but it has been repositioned under the profile photo in this redesign. The top app bar now retains only the usual overflow menu, which includes options such as blocking the contact.

It's important to note that WhatsApp has also improved the call logs in the Calls tab through a different grouping management. Some beta testers might notice that their call logs are no longer grouped by days for the same contact but are instead only grouped by contact. This change results in a cleaner and more organized Calls tab, as the list is now shorter and easier to navigate. When viewing the call info screen, users can see the full details of all calls made with that contact, including incoming and outgoing voice and video calls. The overflow menu within the call info screen still includes the option to delete the call log for the contact. However, deleting the call log now removes all call records with that contact, not just those for a specific day.

We believe that the new approach to call logs and call info offers a more polished and efficient way to access and manage call details. By grouping call logs by contact, the Calls tab is improved since it reduces clutter, making it easier for users to find and review call histories. By consolidating all logs for a contact into one entry, the Calls tab becomes less overwhelming, especially for users with extensive call histories.

An updated call log management feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks.
