RECENT EMOJIS - MESSAGE REACTIONS

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.21.7 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a like reaction feature for status updates. This feature allows users to react to status updates with a heart emoji, making it easier to express appreciation for shared images and videos without starting a new conversation thread. It appears that WhatsApp is now testing additional ways to enhance user interaction, with a particular focus on expanding reaction options for messages. As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of an advanced reaction tray for messages, scheduled for messages in a future update. Currently, the reaction tray includes six default emojis, offering basic options for quick responses. However, with the planned update, users will be able to scroll through the tray to access a wider selection of emojis, including those they've recently used. This enhancement will offer users greater flexibility by providing a wider range of new emoji options, making it easier to quickly select frequently used reactions without having to search for them each time.

We believe that having recent reactions right within the reaction tray can be a significant improvement for certain users, as it eliminates the need to open the emoji panel every time. This convenience enhances the process of selecting a reaction, since it offers quicker access to frequently used emojis. This feature also saves users time and effort, particularly for those who often use other emojis for reactions beyond the default options. Instead of navigating through specific categories in the emoji panel, users will quickly be able to pick from their most recently used reactions directly from the tray in the future.

A feature to react to messages using recent emojis is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
