CREATE CHAT FILTERS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.18.16 update, we announced that WhatsApp is working on a feature to filter chats through custom lists. This feature is designed to provide users with an efficient way to manage and prioritize their conversations by allowing them to categorize contacts and group chats into specific lists. Once a list is created, WhatsApp will automatically generate a corresponding filter, enabling users to easily view only the chats within that list. While custom filters are still in development, it appears that WhatsApp is committed to further improving this feature before the official release by facilitating the creation of new lists. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.20.13 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to create filters from the chats list!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a new button to quickly create filters directly from the chats list, scheduled for release in a future update. Through this new button, users will be able to create a custom list by adding specific contacts and group chats. After creating the list, WhatsApp will automatically generate a filter to display only the selected people and group chats, simplifying chat organization and accessibility. Users will also be able to conveniently manage their lists through a new entry point located at the bottom of their chats, allowing them to quickly add or remove people and groups or rename the filter.
Previously, we noticed that WhatsApp intended to direct users to the app settings to create a list and its corresponding filter. This process might not be always intuitive, as we think many users may have been unaware of how to use it effectively. With the introduction of a dedicated button directly in the chats list, we believe that WhatsApp is finally making this feature more visible and accessible. This new button will allow users to quickly create lists and filters without navigating through the app settings, ensuring that more people can discover and use this feature to organize their chats efficiently in the future.
A feature to create filters from the chats list is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
