ADD PEOPLE AND GROUP CHATS TO LISTS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.16.14 update, we announced that WhatsApp is currently working on a lists feature to manage people and groups. This feature aims to provide users with a more organized and efficient way to handle their contacts and groups, making it easier to find and communicate with specific people or group chats. Although this feature is still in development, it appears that WhatsApp is dedicated to further enhancing this management option, including the ability to create and customize lists. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.18.9 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to add people and groups to lists!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a new feature to allow users to create new lists, scheduled for release in a future update of the app. Specifically, users will be able to add both people and groups to custom lists, enabling them to better organize their contacts and interactions. Additionally, users will be able to assign a name to their lists, including the use of emojis, offering them another layer of personalization. This feature will facilitate more targeted communication by allowing users to focus on the people who matter most, making it easier to send and share content across WhatsApp.
In our opinion, implementing a feature to manage people and groups through lists might enhance the ability to tailor and target content sharing. With custom lists, users will be able to organize their contacts and group chats into specific categories based on their preferences or needs. The upcoming lists feature is set to introduce a new organizational tool similar to the labels currently available on WhatsApp Business. Labels have been an important feature for businesses, allowing them to categorize and manage conversations by assigning specific tags, but WhatsApp is now working on replacing labels with an improved lists feature in the future. As a result of this development, WhatsApp might plan to eventually phase out the labels feature in WhatsApp Business in favor of the more versatile lists system for both apps. We believe that this transition will enable a unified approach to organization and content management across both business and personal use cases.
A feature to add people and groups to lists is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
