COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT GROUP EVENTS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.14.9 update, we announced that WhatsApp was widely rolling out an event feature for group chats to everyone. This update introduced significant improvements to the way users can organize and manage activities within their group chats, allowing members to create and manage events like online meetings or social gatherings directly within the chat. It appears that WhatsApp is now committed to further enhancing this feature, expanding it to the community announcement group. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.14.8 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on an event feature for community announcement groups.
As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of the events feature even for community announcement groups, scheduled for release in a future update of the app. With the current update, events are limited to community group chats and regular groups, making them unavailable for community announcement groups. Thanks to a future update, WhatsApp will extend this feature to community announcement groups as well, allowing admins to create and manage events within these groups.
Since only admins can send messages in community announcement groups, event messages will be prominently displayed without getting lost amidst other messages, ensuring that all members are always aware of upcoming events. This clarity will be particularly beneficial for large communities where important announcements need to stand out. We believe that community admins may also view the announcement group as a centralized hub for event information, making it easily accessible to all group members. This extension will ensure that important details about events are communicated with all members who joined the community, reducing the chance of missing significant information regarding ongoing and planned events.
