As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a new option aimed at allowing users to translate their messages, scheduled for release in a future update of the app. This feature relies on the Google's live translation technology, which operates directly on the user's device. This means that privacy of user messages is maintained since the translation process always occurs locally, without sending data to external servers. Users will need to download language packs to enable this feature in the future, ensuring they have access to translations in their preferred languages at any time. In addition, this live translation feature may be limited to certain languages such as Hindi and English initially, with potential expansions to include more languages in future updates.

Through this option, users will easily be able to communicate in different languages without the need for external apps to translate their messages. Users will be able to benefit from the ability to translate messages instantly during conversations, as these translations might automatically be applied as they chat, maintaining the flow of their communication. We believe that this feature will facilitate enhanced communication across different languages without interruptions or delays. This approach is particularly advantageous as it ensures translations only occur locally on the device, preserving user privacy and minimizing reliance on Internet connectivity.

A feature to translate messages using language packs is under development and it will be available in a future update. We will keep you updated with an additional article as soon as we have more details to share about this feature.
