VOICE MESSAGE TRANSCRIPTS

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.8 update, we announced that WhatsApp was working on a feature to transcribe voice notes. This feature is designed to allow users to transcribe voice notes directly within the app in the future, enhancing accessibility and convenience for those who prefer reading text over listening to voice messages. Although this feature is still in development, it seems that WhatsApp is working on further refining voice transcripts by adding an option to change their language, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.13.8 update from the Google Play Store.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is currently in the process of introducing a new section to choose a language for voice transcripts, scheduled for release in a future update. In this section, users will be able to choose from available languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Hindi, with the potential for more languages to be added in the future. After choosing a language, a package will be downloaded to enable the transcription process.

Offering the option to choose the language of voice transcripts brings significant advantages to the user experience, as it will enhance accessibility for users who communicate in different languages. This will ensure that users can read and understand voice notes in their preferred language. In addition, it will improve the accuracy of transcriptions by using language-specific speech recognition. It's worth noting that users will have the flexibility to choose a different language for specific voice notes as needed. It is important to mention that, users will need to download a language-specific package to enable these transcriptions. This package will allow transcripts to be processed locally on the device, maintaining end-to-end encryption and ensuring that no data is shared externally.

A feature to choose a language for voice message transcripts is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we have new information about this feature.
