EVENT COVER PHOTO
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.5 update, we announced an event reminder feature for community group chats. This feature will enable community admins to set reminders for scheduled events, helping to ensure that members always stay informed and engaged. The event organizer will be able to choose up to two notification timings, such as 30 minutes, 2 hours, or 1 day before the event, to cater to different preferences and schedules. Although this feature is still in development, it seems that WhatsApp is now working on bringing more features to events, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.26 update from the Google Play Store.
As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is currently in the process on introducing a new feature to choose a cover photo for events, scheduled for release in a future update. By choosing a cover photo for an event, community members will have a more visually engaging way to represent their events. This feature will allow organizers to select an image that best captures the theme or purpose of the event, making it easier for other members to identify.
In our opinion, this feature may bring several advantages to the community experience, as it will enhance the organization of events within the group chat. With distinct cover photos, members can quickly and easily distinguish between different events at a glance, improving clarity and reducing the chances of confusion. At the moment, users may be confused when they see similar events listed without any other visual distinction, leading to misunderstandings or missed events. The cover photo feature will help alleviate this issue by providing a clear and visual identifier for each event, making it easier for members to recognize and keep track of the events they are really interested in.
A feature to choose a cover photo for events is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we have new information about this feature.
