REACTIONS FROM MEDIA VIEWER
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.20.20 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a new reply bar feature to quickly reply to images, videos, and GIFs. Through this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to make it easier for users to respond to multimedia content within conversations without needing to scroll back through the chat history. Furthermore, it seems that WhatsApp is now exploring additional tools to enhance user interaction and convenience right within this screen. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.10.7 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a reaction feature from the media viewer screen!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, some beta testers can now experiment with a new reaction shortcut placed at the bottom of the screen, next to the reply bar. This button is designed to allow users to quickly react to media content without leaving the media viewer screen, making the reaction process more convenient. It is worth noting that the reply bar with the reaction shortcut is also available within the video player and it is not restricted to the image viewer screen.
In our opinion, this setup provides users with a more immediate and intuitive experience, allowing them to save time and reducing friction when interacting with multimedia content. Users can stay focused on the media, reacting with emojis without disrupting the flow of viewing. In the past updates, users needed to return to the chat screen to react to a specific image, video, or GIF. Through this new reaction shortcut, WhatsApp is making it easier for users to quickly express their emotions without leaving the media viewer, contributing to a more enhanced user experience.
The reaction feature from the media viewer screen is available to some beta testers who install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks.
