STATUS UPDATES

Last year, WhatsApp introduced the companion mode to allow users to access their WhatsApp account on multiple mobile devices simultaneously, without requiring an active Internet connection on the main device. However, despite the convenience offered by the companion mode, early users noticed some limitations. One notable feature omission was the inability to post status updates from companion devices, which disappointed many users who frequently share updates on their WhatsApp status. Finally, after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.1.4 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to share status updates from companion devices!

As you can see in the attached demo video, the feature to share status updates from companion devices is finally available to some beta testers with the latest update of the app. With this feature, users can now share images, videos, GIFs, text, and voice messages through status updates, providing them with a significant step forward in the way they communicate with their contacts from a companion device.

In our opinion, this feature not only empowers users to share status updates from companion devices but it also ensures that the multi-device experience on WhatsApp remains consistent and inclusive. The convenience of sharing status updates from companion devices means users can choose the device that suits their needs at any given moment. This feature definitely ensures users can keep their contacts informed and engaged through status updates, without experiencing limitations inherent to the companion mode.

The feature to share status updates from companion devices is available to some beta testers that install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks.
