ADMIN REVIEW
WhatsApp is currently working on new features for groups to provide group admins with tools to help them better moderate their groups. In particular, after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.10.8 update available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “admin review”: when enabled, group members will be able to report specific messages to the group admin. When a group member reports a message, it will be sent to the admin for review, and they will be able to choose to delete the message for everyone in the group if they believe it is inappropriate or violates the group’s rules.

As you can see in this screenshot, the new option will be available within the group settings section in the future. Since this option is located within the group settings screen, it means that only group admins can turn on this feature. After enabling this option, group admins will definitely be able to moderate their groups better thanks to the reports sent by other group members. Reported messages will only be visible to group admins within a new section of the app, located within group info.
In our opinion, the admin review feature will provide group members with good control over the content that is shared in the group. If a member sees a message that they believe is inappropriate or offensive, they can report it to the admin for review when they are online, so they can delete it for everyone if needed. This will give more power to group members and the feature ensures that the group remains a safe space for all members.
The ability to report messages to group admins is under development and it will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app. As always, we will post another article when we have further details about this feature to share with you.
