WHATSAPP FOR TABLET

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.6 update, we announced that WhatsApp was releasing a version of the companion mode that makes it possible to link an Android tablet to an existing WhatsApp account. Thanks to the new companion capabilities, it's finally possible to use WhatsApp on a tablet without using a secondary phone number.
Only some beta testers can use their WhatsApp account on a tablet right now but thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.24.8 update, we discovered that WhatsApp plans to announce the WhatsApp for tablet version in the future:

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp plans to introduce "WhatsApp for tablet" by using a new in-app banner that will show up in a future update of the app: the banner will inform users that a version of WhatsApp for tablets is available for beta testers.

Note that some beta testers can already link their account to WhatsApp on a tablet: just download WhatsApp beta from the Play Store by using your tablet to discover if you can use the new version of multi-device.
In case you see a QR code screen after opening WhatsApp on your tablet, it means you can finally link your tablet to your existing WhatsApp account. If the QR code screen doesn't show up but you need to enter your phone number to log into your account, it means you cannot link your tablet to your existing WhatsApp account and you need to wait for a future update.

The new in-app banner will show up in the future and more people will be able to use WhatsApp on their tablets at a later date.
