WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.24.4: what's new?
WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.24.4.
What's new in this update? WhatsApp is releasing the ability to set up an avatar, a new way to be you on WhatsApp, to some lucky beta testers again!

AVATAR
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.23.9 update, we posted news about the ability to set up an avatar, available to some beta testers. Unfortunately, a lot of users were experiencing an issue when creating an avatar so WhatsApp decided to temporarily disabled the feature. After enabling the feature to some iOS beta users after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.71 update, WhatsApp is finally releasing avatars to some lucky beta testers again!
Everything you need to know about avatars is available in our previous article, but there is a small summary for you:
- You can discover if the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account by opening WhatsApp Settings. If the feature is not available for your account, please wait for a future update.
- After setting up your avatar, you can start sending it as a sticker by opening the avatar page within the chat keyboard.
- You can set up your profile photo by choosing an avatar.
The ability to set up an avatar is available to some lucky beta testers and it is rolling out to more users over the coming weeks.
