WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.23.17: what's new?
WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.23.17.

SECURE YOUR ACCOUNT SCREEN
It is very important to enable two-step verification on WhatsApp. Thanks to two-step verification, you can configure a secondary PIN that will be asked after entering the 6-digit code so you can enable an additional layer of security to your WhatsApp account. For a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android, WhatsApp plans to suggest users enable two-step verification if they have not already done it by presenting a new section within the app:
As you can see in this screenshot, this section is called "secure your account" and it recommends users enable two-step verification for added security. Note that with this section, WhatsApp won't force users to enable two-step verification since there is a skip button but it is very recommended to do it. If you already want to enable two-step verification, please open WhatsApp Settings > Account > Two-step verification.
The secure your account section is under development and we don't have information on when it will be available. All we know is that it will show up to users that haven't enabled the two-step verification in a future update of the app.
