CAMERA MODE

Last week, WhatsApp released a new camera shortcut to community users on iOS and Android. Thanks to this shortcut, community users have finally another entry point for the camera since the camera tab has been replaced with the community tab. Today, thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.8 update, we discovered another new feature under development for the camera:

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is working on two new buttons to let users switch the camera mode from photo to video and vice versa. In the current version of WhatsApp, you need to tap and hold to record a video but thanks to this feature, you do not need to tap and hold in the future but just switch to the video mode.
As always, this feature is under development and we do not know when it will be rolled out to users. In this case, we can just say that it will be released in a future update.

In addition, this update brings a bug fix for an issue that prevented chats from properly scrolling: some users reported that scrolling a chat makes WhatsApp show very old messages in the few previous versions of WhatsApp. It seems that thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.8 update, WhatsApp has finally addressed this issue.
