WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.12: what's new?

WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.21.12.
What's new in this update? WhatsApp keeps working on the ability to prevent certain disappearing messages to disappear, for a future update of the app.

In our last article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.3 update, we announced what happens when users try to save a disappearing message in order to prevent its expiration: when someone keeps a disappearing message, it is saved forever for all people that take part of the conversation but anyone can decide to restore its expiration by unkeeping it and nobody will be able to save it again.
The feature is still under development but thanks to the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.12 update, we discovered that it will be possible to find all saved disappearing messages in a new section of the Android app in the future:

As you can see in this screenshot, all saved disappearing messages will be listed in a new section called "kept messages": we already knew there would have been a similar section to list all saved disappearing messages thanks to an article about WhatsApp Desktop beta and it is finally under development on WhatsApp beta for Android as well. You can also notice that the section that lists your starred messages is not available since it will no longer be possible to set a disappearing message as important in the future, but the section will still show up if you have previously starred some messages. Note that as mentioned in the screenshot, only admins will be able to keep or unkeep messages in groups, at the moment: there may be an additional group option that lets group admins manage this setting in the future, but this is only our personal guess.

This feature is under development and it will be released at a later date. As always, an additional article will be available on this website when there are further details to share with you.
