IMPORT BACKUP

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.13.11 update, we posted a screenshot about a "export backup" option, a new feature under development. Thanks to this option, users can have a copy of their most recent WhatsApp backup that includes all chats and media. No further information was available about the use of this backup but thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.10 update, we have discovered that the team is working on the ability to import such backup:

As you can see in this screenshot, when you try to log into WhatsApp from a different device (or the same one, if you have reinstalled the app) you will be able to easily import that exported backup thanks to a new option "import". We don't know why WhatsApp has decided to create another option to restore a backup, but it may be useful when you don't have a Wi-Fi connection and a local backup that has automatically been created by WhatsApp so you can export a backup to import it later.
Unfortunately, the feature that lets us import (and export) a backup is under development so it is not ready to be released to beta testers and we don't even know a release date. There will surely be another article when WhatsApp is rolling out the feature to beta users in the future.
