QUICK REACTIONS
Three months ago, we posted news about quick reactions: a new feature under development that will let people react to status updates by using some emojis.
The feature was spotted during the development of WhatsApp Desktop beta, and thanks to the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.16.10 update, we have discovered that WhatsApp is finally working on implementing the same feature on the Android app as well:
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is planning to introduce 8 emojis to use to react to status updates: Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes, Face with Tears of Joy, Face with Open Mouth, Crying Face, Folded Hands, Clapping Hands, Party Popper, and Hundred Points. After reacting to a status update, the emoji will be sent to the recipient and it will be visible as a status reply within the chat.
This feature is under development so we don't know when WhatsApp plans to release the feature: in this case, we can just say that it will be released in a future update of the app. We will keep you up to date when there is news for beta testers.
