AI-POWERED BUSINESS TOOLS

At the global Conversations event in São Paulo, Mark Zuckerberg has announced some important features designed to enhance the experience for both users and businesses. Recognizing the instant messaging app as an integral part of daily life, Mark Zuckerberg aims to continue introducing new tools on WhatsApp to meet the needs of its diverse range of users. One of the most significant announcements is the introduction of AI tools for businesses. These tools are set to revolutionize how businesses interact with their customers by enhancing customer service, allowing users to find the information they need more efficiently. This includes the possibility for certain businesses to incorporate AI services from Meta into their conversations, simplifying customer inquiry management through AI integration.

Alongside the announcement of Meta AI's launch in Portugal next month and his aspiration to develop a range of AI assistants designed to assist with various purposes, Mark Zuckerberg also announced that these AI tools are designed to enhance functionality for businesses. Businesses can now leverage AI to create advertisements for Instagram and Facebook using Ads Manager, ensuring they remain engaged with customers who have shown interest, with their AI systems suggesting the appropriate subset of recipients. This will result in businesses achieving better return on investment, while people can receive more relevant messages. This also includes reminding users of items left in their shopping cart or offering discounts on desired purchases. It's important to highlight that users always retain control over the messages they've previously chosen to receive from businesses, as they can block them at any time.

Another major development is the rollout of Meta Verified on the WhatsApp Business app in some important markets including Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Colombia. The Meta Verified badge signifies that a business has registered its information with Meta, offering users reassurance of the business's authenticity and providing impersonation protection. This feature also grants businesses enhanced support from Meta and the capability to operate WhatsApp across multiple devices by assigning chats to specific employees. The Meta Verified badge will be prominently displayed on the business's channel and custom WhatsApp page, which can be easily shared on social media and the web. Mark Zuckerberg suggested that this initiative is set to expand to more businesses and countries in the near future.

In addition to these advancements, WhatsApp is introducing a feature that enables users to call larger businesses directly from the chat interface. This one-tap calling option is particularly useful for complex inquiries, such as intricate travel arrangements or opening a new bank account, where a live conversation can provide more immediate and personalized assistance. With previous updates, businesses relying on cloud providers were unable to accept calls due to the unavailability of this feature. Currently in the testing phase, it will finally be available to more businesses over the coming months.

In the conference, WhatsApp also announced important news regarding payments in Brazil. Starting today, users in Brazil can pay for goods and services using Pix, a payment method developed by the Central Bank of Brazil that enables fast transactions directly within the app, making it easier and more convenient for users to complete their payments. This is also compatible with large businesses, allowing them to easily integrate Pix payments into their operations and provide an enhanced payment experience for their customers.

New AI-powered business features and Meta Verified are available to some users who install the latest updates of WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store and WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store. These are rolling out to even more people over the coming months.
