In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.13.9 update, we shared the details about a new feature under development: the ability to view status updates right within the chat list.
The feature was under development but it didn’t take so long to release it: in fact, WhatsApp is releasing this feature to certain beta testers today!
As you can see in this screenshot, when a contact uploads a new status update, it will also be visible within the chat list: you just need to tap their profile picture to view the status update!
If you don’t even post and view status updates and you do not like this feature, there is a solution for you: just mute all status updates so they won’t show up within the chat list anymore.
WhatsApp is rolling out this feature to some lucky beta testers today, and more activations are planned over the coming weeks. Note that, since this feature has been released on WhatsApp beta for Android, it may also be released to some beta testers on WhatsApp beta for iOS in a near future.
