WhatsApp is releasing the ability to forward media with a caption


After releasing the ability to view profile icons within group chats, WhatsApp is now rolling out a new feature that lets some beta testers forward images, videos, GIFs, and documents, with a caption, on WhatsApp Desktop beta!

After releasing the WhatsApp beta for Android update, we announced that WhatsApp was releasing a new feature under development: the ability to forward media with a caption. Thanks to this feature, you can keep the caption of your images, videos, GIFs, and documents, while the forwarding process. The feature has also released on iOS beta after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS update and it is finally available to some beta testers that install the latest version of WhatsApp Desktop beta:

As you can see in this screenshot, a new caption view shows up when you try to forward an image, video, GIFs, and document, with a caption. Thanks to the new caption view, you can easily understand if the caption will be attached to the new message when it will be forwarded to chats you choose in this section. In addition, you have control over forwarding the media since you can decide to remove the caption by tapping the dismiss button. In case the feature is not available for your WhatsApp account, please wait for a future update where the feature will be widely released to more users.

The ability to forward media with a caption has been released to some beta testers after installing the WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2245.5 update and it is rolling out to more users over the coming days.
